As President of Victory Studios, customer satisfaction is Mark’s main focus. He wants each customer to have the amount of creative control they desire while also experiencing the success achieved when working with Victory’s skilled team of creative and post-production personnel.
A Seattle native, Mark is a product of the University of Washington School of Business and a retired banker. He has taught and consulted for governments and industries in the United States, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, and Uzbekistan, covering subjects ranging from marketing, finance, manufacturing processes, and strategic planning. Kurt Horn

While attending college and working toward a degree in aeronautical engineering, Kurt got a part time job at KIMA-TV in Yakima shooting stills and directing. The Yakima job led to a position as a news photographer at KING TV in Seattle while Kurt attended the University of Washington. After a brief (draft induced) military career spent in Berlin, Kurt once again found himself in a news room environment, this time shooting award-winning stories for KOMO-TV in Seattle. After five years of shooting "talking heads," he moved on to become a producer/director working on live and taped programs as well as commercials. This opportunity was followed by a five-year stint as Production Manager coordinating the daily operations of a major market television station.
Looking for other ways to improve his skills, Kurt moved on to become Creative Director for the Seattle office of Telemation Productions. With the closure of Telemation, Kurt found a home in sales with Western Video, and, from there, it was a short jump to Production Services Coordinator at Victory Studios, where he has been since 1992. In his current position as Director of Operations, Kurt is responsible for the daily operation of this premiere postproduction facility.

Susan McArthur

Susan was introduced to playing music at the young age of five while attending music school. It's all history from there. She played the flute for ten years, starting in grade school and continuing through high school. During her career in Seattle, she has worked on everything audio, from duplication, recording, editing and mixing to her vast knowledge of music and sound effect libraries. Her "canniness" to find the appropriate music piece for a project is indomitable. With her audio background, owning her own business and being a partner in another, she was a shoe-in for managing the Sound Department here at Victory.
What I do in my spare time:
In her "spare" time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Les, and her dog "Shady Lady," and visiting with friends. She loves the water and someday hopes to own a boat! I love to go up to the national forest areas all over Washington State.

Mike brings thirty years experience in video & audio production to your project. He started in the Seattle market in 1972 with Multi-Media Productions, where he gained experience in all aspects of audio mixing, editing, and location sound for film production. In 1974, WNA Audio Video acquired Multi-Media, which started offering film and 2" to ¾” video transfers. This launched him into the wave of video postproduction, where he gained experience ranging from 2" video editing to the rapid changing technology of computer editing and special effects. After several years of motion picture tech work and earlier experience in radio and newspaper production, Erick found a place in Victory Studios’ Video Duplication Department. He worked here for three years before shifting to multimedia. Erick finds that his range of experience has been extremely useful in taking on the unpredictable challenges of multimedia, in which ongoing projects may include a DVD video series, a high-resolution .AVI application for scientific study, or the compression of aging video tapes for an MPEG digital archive.
What I do in my spare time:
When not dealing with the constantly changing universe of digital video, Erick pursues an interest in silent era cinema, particularly the films of Georges Méliès. (Through no fault of his own, Erick's silent movie webpage is a top-five result for the keyword "Méliès" in search engines such as google and goto.com.)

John Davidson

My interest in this industry began in the Air Force. I worked in a photo unit, first working on aerial cameras, then ground still cameras, then motion picture lab equipment, and finally motion picture cameras. After leaving the Air Force, I worked for F&B Ceco in Los Angeles servicing their rental film cameras (mainly Arriflex 16 & 35mm and Mitchell cameras). I then went to work for Young & Rubicam, an ad agency in L.A.. There I started taking care of their audiovisual systems. I recorded audio demos and rough mixes as well as demo video reels and presentations. Through working at the agency, I became quite involved with the on-staff producers and became exposed to all facets of conception production and postproduction. Working at Young & Rubicam solidified my interest was in postproduction.
I then received the fortunate opportunity to work at Editel in Hollywood; so I left Y & R and went to work at Editel doing utility work on their remote video trucks, eventually moving inside to run tape for the editors and telecine. After awhile, and 2 telecine (colorists) later, I expressed an interest in doing telecine, was given a crash course in telecine, and thrown into the job. I grew there and developed a client base around Budweiser, Bank of America, A&M records, Good Year Tire, and a number of other national clients that Editel had built up over their short history in L.A.
However, wanting out of L.A, I then left and moved to Seattle,. I came without a job to a city that, at the time, did not have a telecine. I first worked at Boeing as a contract employee doing some shooting, editing, and maintenance of their video cameras. This led to a position at Telemation doing video on their studio and remote shoots. They hired me with the intent of putting in a telecine. Two years later, they did.
At that time in Seattle, the only film spots that were being shot were for the banks or bigger budget clients. After the telecine was in, the video shooting in town dwindled. People wanted to shoot film here, the labs were here, and now the post was here. I stayed with Telemation until 1990. Then Pinnacle arrived from Spokane. I saw the chance to have the post business in town mature to a level only associated with L.A. or Vancouver. At Pinnacle, I had the opportunity to work with clients such as Turner Broadcasting, Will Vinton, Saturn, McDonalds, Coca Cola, Henry Weinhard’s, Bank of Hawaii, Washington Mutual, NBC, ABC, A&E Networks, Kraft Foods, etc. In April 200I, I made the move to Victory Studios. Here we have had clients such as City Bank of Hawaii, Bank of Hawaii, Maryland State Lottery, Windermere Realty, Washington State Lottery, KING 5 News, Premera Blue Cross, Will Vinton, etc.
What I do in my spare time:
I personally love my wife Cathryn, my children Sophie & Michael, and my dogs Duncan & Delilah. My interests lie in movies, art, Roseville pottery, old cars, soccer, and travel.

Josh has a degree in political science from University of Washington, but, upon completing his degree, he quickly realized that it didn’t easily lead to a fulfilling career nor did it deal with his true love, film (spurred by an interest in the films of David Lynch and Hal Hartley, to list just a couple of his favorites). Therefore, Josh returned to UW and received a certificate in film and video production, which involved writing a short film. Within a year, Josh actually shot his film with the intent of "finishing it someday."
In 1999, Josh accepted a position at Victory Studios and took the time to complete his short film. It was accepted at the 2001 Seattle Underground Film Festival. Following this, he continued to hone his technical and artistic skills, focusing on High Definition and color correction for film and video. His exposure to a wide array of talented filmmakers’ work helped develop his eye for the aesthetic of film and video, a necessary attribute for a colorist. At Victory Studios, Josh continues to learn from the great John Davidson, Senior Colorist at Victory Studios, widely regarded as “The Best in the West.”
What I do in my spare time:
Josh plays soccer in the Greater Seattle Soccer League, supports Manchester United Football Club, and immerses himself in the world of David Lynch (and other film makers).
